ECO-809 / SOURCE CONTROLLED
Research and linkback standard
System 8 uses dense, purposeful links: primary sources establish implementation facts; practitioner and industry sources expose edge cases, trade-offs and active debate.
Source hierarchy
| CLASS | USE | EXAMPLES |
|---|---|---|
| Primary authority | Current behaviour, supported configuration, limits and security boundaries | Microsoft Learn/MSDN, standards, vendor repositories |
| Practitioner evidence | Failure signals, edge cases and operational questions to reproduce | Power Platform Community, PnP, issue trackers |
| Industry perspective | Architecture debate, maintainability and technology direction | Theo/t3.gg, developer publications, Slashdot discussions |
| Research | Methods, evaluation and empirical limits | Peer-reviewed papers, arXiv originals, AI/ML system cards |
| Local evidence | The actual decision and acceptance result | Run logs, test packs, ADRs, owner sign-off |
Link rule
A material technical assertion links to the narrowest current primary source available. Community posts may motivate a diagnostic but do not become product guarantees. Label industry voices as perspectives. Primary and standards sources retain claim authority. Each article links to its controlled System 8 artefact, and the artefact links back to the explanatory situation.
Industry signal set
- Microsoft Learn for Microsoft 365, Azure and Power Platform implementation truth.
- Power Platform Community for recurring field symptoms and workaround reports.
- Theo / t3.gg for opinionated full-stack trade-offs and current developer practice.
- Google Developers Blog for platform and AI engineering developments.
- Slashdot for long-running technical debate and historical industry context.
- Linux kernel regression guidance for compatibility and evidence-first repair culture associated with Linus Torvalds and the kernel community.
AI and ML evidence
AI pages must state intended use, authority boundaries, evaluation method, data/permission model, failure modes and human review. Prefer model/system cards and original research over capability announcements. Useful starting points include Microsoft transparency notes, application cards and research on deployed-system monitoring; production acceptance still depends on local tests and governed data.
Maintenance contract
- Check links and schema monthly.
- Review Microsoft platform claims after announced breaking changes.
- Date community observations and reproduce them before presenting a solution.
- Retire links that no longer support the nearby sentence.
- Preserve amendments when a changed platform invalidates earlier advice.
Publication gate
No primary article publishes without a controlled linkback, at least two authoritative technical sources, a labelled composite/client status, and positive plus negative verification. No external source is added merely for search ranking or name recognition.
